Lampworking Level 1: 4-Weeks
(Hard Glass)
Lampworking Level 1: 4 Weeks with Hard/Scientific/Pyrex/Borosilicate Glass
Do you know what happens to glass when it gets hot fast or cold fast? That's right. It explodes. Glass generally doesn't react well to sudden dramatic temperature changes. That is until "boro" came along. Hard glass was originally developed to withstand sudden heat changes for Scientific Labware, Space Glass, home cooking, etc. Basically, this kind of glass won't blow up in your face when you apply a small flame to it. In my 4 week class on Hard Glass Lampworking, Level 1 consists of stringers, twisty stringers, figurines, marbles, and implosion pendants. Levels 2 expands on color techniques and introduces hollow work. Level 3 expands on hollow work. Level 4 is guided practice tailored to the needs of the students. Additional Levels and Private Lessons available upon request. The goal is to get students to a point where they can execute their own ideas safely.
